TUESDAYS WITH THE COUNSELING CENTER

Is It Normal?
Mental Illness Among College Students

Have you ever struggled with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, an eating disorder, or known someone who has? There is a high probability that you will encounter at least one of these issues during your college experience. Due to the increased availability of mental health treatment and improvements in medications, individuals who may not have been able to successfully attend college can now do so. However, a lack of awareness regarding psychological issues remains.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • What is considered abnormal from a mental health perspective;
  • What are some of the more common disorders among college students;
  • The role stress can play; and
  • Ways to get or give help

Date: October 21, 2008
Time: 5:00-6:00 PM
