Location

The Counseling Center is in Room 571 on the 5th floor of the Student Services Building (SSB). The SSB building is on Park Drive off Lancaster Avenue and faces the Weaver and Combs Buildings. Parking is available on the south side facing the coliseum.

Melissa W. Cozart, M.S. (Eastern Kentucky University)
Licensed Psychological Practitioner. Integration of cognitive-behavioral therapy and interpersonal theories of counseling. Professional interests include eating disorders, relationship issues, spiritual issues, and individual and group psychotherapy.

Kathleen Spencer Gore, Ph.D. (Iowa State University)
Staff Psychologist (Temporary License). Eclectic therapeutic orientation tailored to the individual needs of clients, primarily utilizing the theories and techniques of interpersonal, humanistic, cognitive, psychodynamic, and developmental approaches to therapy. Professional interests include crisis intervention and management, grief and loss issues, trauma, relationship issues, and psychology and the law.

Kristie LeClair Kirkpatrick, Ph.D. (The University of Texas at Austin)
Staff Psychologist. Integration of humanistic and interpersonal theory with experiential and cognitive interventions. Professional interests include disordered eating attitudes, especially binge/compulsive eating; grief and loss; early childhood trauma; family of origin and relationship issues. I focus on strengths and empowerment of individuals to create the lives they want to live.

B. Thomas Longwell, Psy.D. (Pacific University)
Licensed Psychologist. Provides cognitive and behavioral, empirically supported interventions that focus on creating positive therapeutic gains in current functioning. Professional interests include anxiety, depression, stress management, psychological assessment and research, success in college, and individual therapy.

Donald E. Ralph, Ph.D. (The Catholic University of America)
Licensed Psychologist. Dr. Ralph is a clinical professor on faculty at the University of Kentucky Department of Psychiatry and a part-time staff member at the EKU Counseling Center. Professional interests include individual therapy, anxiety, and depression.

Michalle S. Rice, M.S. (Eastern Kentucky University)
Licensed Psychological Practitioner. Integration of cognitive-behavioral therapy and interpersonal theories of counseling. Professional interests include grief counseling, career counseling, stress management, and college student success.

Neil Scheurich, M.D. (University of Michigan)
Staff Psychiatrist. Dr. Scheurich is an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky Department of Psychiatry and a part-time staff member at the EKU Counseling Center. Professional interests include mood disorders and psychiatric ethics.

Kevin Stanley, Ph.D. (University of Florida)
Staff Psychologist (Temporary License). Eclectic use of different therapeutic theories and techniques, including experiential, existential, interpersonal, cognitive, psychodynamic, and developmental approaches. Professional interests include men’s issues, identity concerns, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and couples counseling.

Roderick R. Stuart, M.D. (Loma Linda University School of Medicine)
Resident Physician, Psychiatry. Modes of treatment include psychopharmacology as well as various psychotherapies such as cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and supportive psychotherapy. Professional interests: various forms of anxiety, mood, attentional, cognitive, and personality disorders, and addiction medicine.

Missy Taylor, Ph.D. (University of Kentucky)
Licensed Psychologist. Integration of cognitive therapy, mindfulness, interpersonal theory, and motivational interviewing. Professional interests include coordination of substance abuse services, recovery from childhood and adult trauma, individual and group counseling, and mindfulness-based interventions.

Jen Colvin Walker, Ed.D (East Texas State University)
Director, Licensed Psychologist. Professional interests include career counseling, individual counseling, stress management, college student success, referral, and test anxiety.
