The primary goal of the Counseling Center is to help currently enrolled EKU students develop the personal awareness and skills necessary to overcome problems, assist with career decision-making, and to grow and develop in ways that will allow them to maximize their total educational experience at Eastern Kentucky University. Counseling is seen as another form of learning whereby students learn effective means of: relating to others, understanding and dealing with their emotions, setting appropriate goals, making healthy decisions, resolving inner conflicts, developing independence, increasing self-confidence, improving self-esteem, and selecting suitable career directions. The entire counseling center staff is committed to helping students fulfill their hopes, dreams, and potentials in their journey of life-long learning.
